Raipur. In the capital city of Raipur, the police are continuously taking strict action against those driving under the influence of alcohol to curb road accidents. Under the special campaign being run by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic and Protocol, Vikas Kumar, 614 drunk drivers have been taken to task through intensive checks at various intersections in the city over the past 10 days.
In this sequence, a special checking campaign was conducted in the Telibandha police station area on March 8, 2026. During inspections, 86 drivers were caught driving under the influence at six locations. Expensive cars like Audis and BMWs were also seized by the police during the operation.
According to the police, approximately 600 people die in road accidents in Raipur each year, with many of these accidents being caused by drunk driving. In response, the traffic police are conducting ongoing campaigns to take strict action against such drivers.
The Traffic Police have appealed to the citizens of Raipur city to refrain from driving under the influence and to avoid speeding. Following traffic rules is essential for safe road travel, to protect yourself and your family.
