India on Saturday (March 7, 2026) said it is continuously monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia, especially in the context of the safety of its citizens stranded in the region.

In a late night statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said more than 52,000 Indians have returned to the country following the partial opening of the airspace across the region.

More Than 140 Flights Cancelled

More than 140 international flights were cancelled at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata airports on Friday (March 6, 2026) as the West Asia crisis continues to impact flight operations.

The widening conflict in the Middle East saw fresh warnings from US President Donald Trump, who warned that Iran will be “hit very hard today”. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel would continue its war with Iran “with all our force” as part of a “systemic plan to eradicate the Iranian regime”.

The “moment of truth” was coming for the Iranian people, Netanyahu said. He further stated that the US and Israeli air strikes had secured “almost complete control of the airspace” over Tehran.
