New Delhi: The Centre has made major administrative changes in the posts of Governor and Lieutenant Governor in various states and union territories. In this sequence, Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Under this change, Vinay Kumar Saxena, who was till now in charge of Delhi, has been made the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. CM Rekha Gupta posted a tweet congratulating the new lieutenant.
Along with this, the responsibility of the post of Governor of Maharashtra has been given to Jishnu Dev Verma , the responsibility of the post of Governor of Bihar has been given to retired Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain, the responsibility of the post of Governor of Himachal Pradesh has been given to Kavinder Gupta , who was earlier the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. The central administration has made these changes with the aim of making the leadership and administrative work more effective in the states and union territories.
Rashtrapati Bhavan has announced a major administrative reshuffle. Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Additionally, VK Saxena, who previously held the Delhi portfolio, has been assigned responsibility for the strategically important Ladakh region. During his tenure in Delhi, VK Saxena spearheaded several significant development initiatives and administrative reforms. He will now assume key security and development responsibilities in Ladakh.
Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been a diplomat
Taranjit Singh Sandhu is a seasoned diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service. He served as India’s Ambassador to the United States, where his tenure saw significant strengthening of defense, technology, and trade ties between India and the United States. He also served as India’s High Commissioner to Colombo and held important positions on behalf of India in several other countries around the world. Information about this major administrative reshuffle was shared by Rashtrapati Bhavan. This change came just hours after the resignation of Ladakh’s Lieutenant Governor, Kavinder Gupta. Kavinder Gupta resigned after a tenure of just nine months. He was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh with effect from July 14, 2025.
