Mumbai: A theft worth crores of rupees has caused a stir in the Borivali area of Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. Thieves targeted a jewellery shop and made off with about 5 kg of gold. Police investigation has revealed the shocking fact that internal collusion was involved in this crime. Two accused have been arrested in the case, while a minor has been taken into custody and sent to an observation home. Now the police is busy searching for the absconding accused. Gold worth Rs 7.88 crore was stolen from My Gold Point jewellery shop in Borivali, Mumbai. This incident created a stir in the area.

Although police have arrested two suspects, and a minor is also in custody, one remains at large. This major theft occurred at a jewelry store called “My Gold Point” in IC Colony, Borivali West, Mumbai.

This area is considered one of Mumbai’s prime residential and commercial areas. The incident occurred on the night of January 13th and 14th, 2026. When the shop opened in the morning, the showcases were empty, and gold worth not just lakhs, but crores, was missing. The stolen jewelry is estimated to be worth approximately ₹78.8 million in the market.

The investigation revealed that the accused used a duplicate key instead of breaking the shop lock. Therefore, at first glance, there were no signs of forced entry. The accused meticulously collected approximately 5 kilograms of gold jewelry from the showcase and fled.

Two shop employees suddenly disappeared immediately after the incident, further fueling suspicion. Police examined footage from nearby CCTV cameras and intensified the investigation. The investigation revealed that these employees were responsible for closing the shop and handling the keys. This trust was exploited to create a duplicate key and carry out the crime. After confirming internal collusion, police began searching for the suspects.

The investigation also revealed the role of a minor, who has been detained and sent to an observation home. Police say that interrogation is ongoing to recover the remaining gold. Police have arrested the main accused, Ganpat Chadana (26) and Kishanlal alias Bhairu Bagalal Rebari (21). During interrogation, both made important revelations. Based on their information, 3 kg 100 grams of gold has been recovered so far.
