Mumbai: Assi, directed by Anubhav Sinha, registered a drop of 20-25 per cent on its 2nd Friday, adding around Rs. 40 lakh to the tally. Generally, the bigger centre films tend to hold better on Fridays, some even grow but here the business dropped. This brings its total 8-day cume to Rs. 6.90 crore nett at the Indian box office.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor’s “O Romeo” has crossed the ₹60 crore mark at the domestic box office as it enters its third week in theaters, though earnings are now beginning to decline slightly. After a strong opening for two weeks, the film opened its third week with earnings of approximately ₹1.15 crore on Friday, although earnings have now begun to slow. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the romantic drama’s earnings are gradually declining after a strong start.
Taapsee Pannu’s film “Assi” tackles the sensitive and poignant subject of sexual assault. The courtroom drama received mixed reviews from audiences after its theatrical release last Friday. Now, according to a report by Sacnilk, the film has earned ₹0.5 crore on its eighth day. This brings the film’s total collection to ₹7.45 crore. The legal drama’s worldwide earnings stand at ₹8.2 crore.
