There was a mild riot when Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai visited Rahangi in Bilaspur district when workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) engaged in a verbal tussle with security guards at a venue of a political event. This happened when part of the party workers were trying to proceed to welcome the Chief Minister when he landed. Security personnel who had been positioned at the location prevented them to cross the security perimeter and an argument ensued between the two parties.
According to eyewitnesses, the dispute quickly turned into an ugly confrontation, and a moment of anarchy at the site was established. But BJP seniors who were present at the incident came in rescue. They appeased the laborers and asked them to cooperate with the security measures, and the situation was controlled subsequently. The incident then continued without any additional disturbance.
Rahangi Chief Minister Sai had gone to a conference of a large number of farmers. In the process, he will launch and lay the foundation stones of 89 development projects worth more than 263 crore. These undertakings are roads, bridges, hospitals, and irrigation schemes, which are meant to enhance the infrastructure in the area. A number of rural roads built as a part of pradhan mantri Gram Sadak Yojana will also be opened.
Besides this, the Chief Minister will also make direct transfers of 10,324 crore to the bank account of 24.28 lakh farmers in the state, which also supports the idea of the government that the welfare of agriculture and rural development should be considered a priority.
