Government of Chhattisgarh has given the retired IAS officer Ganesh Shankar Mishra the position of the Vice-Chairperson of the State Policy Commission, Chhattisgarh. The appointment was legalised by the means of an official order of Planning, Economics and Statistics, and 20-Point Programme Implementation Department.

In the notification, the appointment of Ganesh Shankar Mishra will be effective with the date on which he takes over the office and will be effective until further directives of the state government. The action has been perceived as an important administrative step bearing in mind that Mishra had a long history of handling administration and policy making in the course of his tenure in the Indian Administrative Service.

The State Policy Commission is very significant in offering advice to the government on development policies, economic plans and policies, as well as implementation of major welfare and infrastructure programmes.
