Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh received a threatening WhatsApp voice note from unidentified persons, as informed on Tuesday. Following the threat, police have launched an investigation and stepped up security at the actor’s residence.
According to sources, police suspect that members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang could be behind the threat to Ranveer Singh with the purpose of extortion.
Sources said Mumbai Police increased security outside Ranveer Singh’s Bandra home soon after the threat was reported. Additional police personnel were deployed, and all visitors are being closely checked.
The incident follows a firing episode outside film director Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai residence on January 31, where five rounds were fired. After that incident, Mumbai Police has been on high alert.
