Kota: A major accident occurred late Saturday evening in Kota, Rajasthan. A three-story building in the Jawahar Nagar police station area suddenly collapsed. Located on Opera Hospital Road, the building housed the Moradabad Non-Veg Restaurant. Customers and employees present at the restaurant were buried under the debris. One young man has been confirmed dead, while seven others have been rescued.

According to eyewitnesses and preliminary information, construction work was underway on another building directly adjacent to the restaurant. Excavation or demolition work was underway with a JCB. It is suspected that the building, which had a weak foundation, collapsed due to the vibrations or excavation caused by the JCB. It is reported that the building was under construction, with two floors completed and work underway on the third.

Minister Madan Dilawar took charge

Upon receiving information about the accident, Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar immediately arrived at the scene. He took charge of relief and rescue operations and directed officials to work on a war footing to safely rescue everyone trapped under the debris. SDRF and administrative teams are currently at the scene.

Lok Sabha Speaker’s OSD, Rajiv Dutta, told the media that seven people have been pulled from the debris so far, some of whom suffered serious neck and leg injuries. He also shared the tragic news of the death of a man named Abhijeet. According to Dutta, information received from the restaurant owner indicated that eight to ten employees were inside. Additionally, some people standing at a tea stall outside the building were also struck by the debris.
