The Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to recall its order directing Bollywood actor Rajpal Naurang Yadav to surrender before the concerned Jail Superintendent in relation to his conviction in cheque dishonour cases. While directing the actor to surrender before the Jail Superintendent, Tihar, immediately today, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said that the Court cannot be expected to show or create special circumstances for any person merely because such a person belongs to a particular background or industry.

Rajpal Yadav Court Hearing

During the court hearing, Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer argued that the actor had arranged for ₹50 lakh and that he should be given an additional week to complete the remaining formalities to make the payment. However, the court disagreed with this argument. Justice Swaran Kanta Sharma’s bench clearly stated that he must surrender first, before the petition would be considered.

The court also remarked that any relief granted so far was based on repeated assurances from the actor. The court clearly indicated that a mere assurance of payment was insufficient and that the legal process must be followed. Following the court’s instructions, the actor surrendered within the stipulated timeframe.
