Hindustan Aeronautics Limited ( HAL) has announced that 5 LCA ( Light Combat Aircraft) Tejas Mk 1 A fighter aircraft are all set to be handed over to the Indian Air Force. HAL on Thursday categorically dismissed the speculations that were going on regarding the delay in the delivery of indigenous LCA Tejas Mk 1 A fighter aircraft. According to the company , these five aircraft of the first batch are ready as per all the key capabilities and agreed specifications as stipulated in the contract.
This announcement by HAL is considered a significant step towards strengthening the Indian Air Force’s indigenous combat capability and self-reliance in the defense sector. The delivery of the Tejas Mk1A will enhance the Air Force’s combat capability and further strengthen the nation’s security capabilities.
HAL also stated in its statement that nine additional LCA Mk1A aircraft have already been built and their test flights have been completed. The company added that these aircraft will also be ready for delivery as soon as the engines are received from the US company General Electronics (GE). According to HAL, five engines have been received from GE so far, and the supply situation is positive. The company expects that future engine supplies will continue as per delivery plans.
HAL categorically dismissed speculation about delivery delays, stating that the aircraft meet all key capabilities and specifications stipulated in the contract. The company also stated that nine additional LCA Mk1A aircraft have already been built and their test flights have been completed. These aircraft will also be ready for delivery soon once the engines are received from the US company General Electronics (GE). According to HAL, five engines have been received from GE so far, and further supplies are expected to continue as per delivery plans.
HAL assured that all identified design and development issues are being resolved expeditiously, and that continuous dialogue is underway with the Indian Air Force to ensure the earliest delivery of the aircraft. The company also stated that it will meet the guidance set for the current fiscal year. HAL is also rapidly progressing on several key strategic programs, including the Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH), Tejas LCA Mk2, and Combat Air Teaming System (CATS). According to HAL, all these programs will enter the production phase after 2032.
