PM Modi’s Reaction to Reduction in US Tariffs: PM Narendra Modi’s initial reaction has been released regarding the India-US trade deal and the reduction in US tariffs. PM Modi has expressed happiness on the reduction of US tariffs. He has thanked US President Donald Trump for this. The announcement concludes nearly 12 months of tense negotiations that saw bilateral ties nosedive and India being slapped with some of the highest tariffs in the world.
PM Modi said that it was nice to talk to Trump. The tariff on Make in India has been reduced to 18%. On behalf of the people of India, we thank Trump. The Prime Minister further said that we will take the partnerships to new heights.
“Wonderful to speak with my dear friend President Trump today. Delighted that Made in India products will now have a reduced tariff of 18%. Big thanks to President Trump on behalf of the 1.4 billion people of India for this wonderful announcement”, he wrote on X.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that the ‘historic deal’ between US and India would improve the strategic partnership between the two nations and pave the way for stronger trade ties and mutual growth. Calling it a ‘big day’, the minister extended congratulations to PM Modi and Donald Trump.
Trump said that PM Modi is my good friend. We discussed many issues including trade. Trump said that India will buy oil from America and Venezuela, not Russia. India will promote Buy American. India has expressed commitment towards Buy American. Trump said that our relations will become stronger in the future. Last year, America had imposed a total tariff of 50 percent on India. 25 percent of this was a reciprocal tariff and the remaining 25 percent was imposed as a ‘penalty’ for buying oil from Russia.
