Police officials confirmed that five men were arrested in Pune in relation to a brazen firing incident at a Mumbai residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty in the early morning of Sunday. The crime occurred in a nine storey structure of Shetty in Juhu at around 12: 45 am and the assailants were unknown people who fired numerous rounds at the first floor. One of the bullets shot through the glass of a gym found in Rohit Shetty’s building, luckily without hurting anybody.
They are five suspects identified as Aman Anand Marote (27) and Aditya Gyaneshwar Gayaki (19) of Karvenagar; Siddharth Deepak Yenpure (20) and Samarth Shivsharan Pomaji (18) of Dhayari and Swapnil Bandu Sakat (23) of Aro Virya Kamri. Police added that the men are being taken to Mumbai, and they will be arrested after they have arrived.
There has also been an indication of a potential connection to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang that is notorious. Another person called Aarzo Bishnoi was allegedly the perpetrator of the attack, in a social media post that an alleged accomplice of Bishnoi, wanted in the murder of NCP leader and former state minister Baba Siddique in October 2024 posted, purportedly. The post was also said to have been threatening Bollywood personalities, telling them to fall in line, which has brought up the issue of intimidating the film industry personnel.
The Maharashtra police has initiated an in-depth investigation of the incident, checking the CCTV recordings and tracing the steps of the accused. Police are investigating whether the assault was either revenge based or gang related or an element of a bigger trend of threats associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The case is still under investigation and law enforcing agencies have vowed to be more vigilant in the region to ensure that no more cases occur.
