There is a tragic incident that is reported in Madhya Pradesh, Singraeli district where the accident in the Adani Power Plant has caused panic and anger among the inhabitants. The tragedy happened at the ash dam of Adani Power Plant in Khairahi near Badhoura area and resulted in the death of a woman causing massive unrest in the area.
The woman was run over by a heavy machine of the company, according to the preliminary information, which killed her on the spot. The crash was a shock to the surrounding, and the villagers rushed to the scene shortly after the accident. The situation deteriorated rapidly with locals registering bitter sentiments on issues of security at the power plant.
The victim is known as Pavitri Panika who lived in Khairahi village. According to villagers, the ash dam had been resisted by the village since its construction was near the neighborhoods. They insist that there were repeated objections about the safety hazards that the building of the ash dam in the center of the village would cause. Since the death of the woman, the tension that existed between the residents over a long period has allegedly escalated into anger.
The locals have claimed negligence and insisted on responsibility of the company that includes poor safety precautions and absence of appropriate monitoring during the activities of that heavy machinery. The events in the region are still strained, as people of the village organize demonstrations and demand instant measures.
At the present moment, the company and district administration do not make any official statement on the incident. The government will come to the scene and start an investigation to figure out the events that led to the accident and to solve the issues of the interested villagers.
