Union Budget 2026 Speech Live: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting her record 9th Aam Budget in the Lok Sabha today. In her India Budget speech, she explained that a scheme for rare earth permanent magnets was launched in 2025, and now the government will support mineral-rich states like Odisha, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu to develop dedicated rare earth corridors.

She said, “I propose to build a new dedicated freight corridor from Dankuni in the east to Surat in the west. Additionally, 20 new waterways will be operationalized over the next five years, starting with National Waterway 5 in Odisha. This will connect mineral-rich areas like Talcher and Angul and industrial centers like Kalinganagar to the ports of Paradip and Damra.”

Emphasising on Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technologies in the Union Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed an allocation of Rs 20,000 crore over the next five years to promote these technologies. Speaking on infrastructure, she said that we will continue to develop infrastructure in cities with a population of more than 5 lakh, i.e. Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The Finance Minister said that she proposes to increase public capital expenditure to Rs 12.2 lakh crore in 2026-27. Other issues that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is addressing in her budget speech.

Bharat Vistar AI Agri Tool Announced

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Bharat Vistar AI Agri Tool for farmers in Budget 2026. She also said that India’s animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics (AVGC) sector is a growing industry, projected to require 2 million professionals by 2030. “I propose to support the Mumbai-based Indian Institute of Creative Technologies in setting up AVGC content creator labs in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges,” she said.

Emphasis will be on making India a medical tourism hub – Finance Minister

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “To promote India as a medical tourism hub, I propose a scheme to assist states in establishing five regional hubs across the country. Additionally, 50 percent of district hospitals will have emergency and trauma centers. Furthermore, five tourist destinations will be developed in five eastern states. Temples and monasteries will be protected.”
