Ten soldiers were killed and 10 others were injured as an Indian Army vehicle fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.

Providing details of the accident, military officials said that on Thursday, an army vehicle carrying 17 soldiers was heading to a high-altitude post. The bulletproof vehicle skidded off the road near Khani Top on the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road in Doda and fell into a 200-foot-deep ravine. Ten soldiers were killed in the accident, while others were seriously injured.

Upon receiving information about the accident, a joint army and police team immediately launched a rescue operation. Local residents also arrived to assist the police and rescue teams. The bodies of 10 soldiers were recovered during the rescue operation. The injured soldiers were evacuated, several of whom are reported to be in critical condition. Three were airlifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur, where they are receiving specialized treatment.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Doda that claimed the lives of 10 of our brave Indian Army soldiers. We will always remember the exemplary service and supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers. My deepest condolences go out to the bereaved families. The entire nation stands in solidarity and support with the bereaved families in this hour of profound grief. The 10 injured soldiers have been airlifted to the hospital. Instructions have been given to ensure they receive the best possible treatment. I pray for their speedy recovery.”
