Mauni Amavasya 2026. Amavasya (new moon day) holds special significance in Sanatan Dharma. However, the new moon day falling in the month of Magh is considered the most sacred and special. It is called Magh Amavasya or Mauni Amavasya. Bathing, donating, worshipping, and observing a silent fast on this day purifies the mind. The Mauni Amavasya bath is also scheduled for today at the Magh Mela in Prayagraj. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath greeted the devotees on this occasion.
CM Yogi shared a post saying, “Hearty greetings to all the revered Akharas, religious leaders, saints, seekers, Kalpvasis and devotees who have come to the holy Sangam for a dip on the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya, the great festival of faith. May everyone’s wishes be fulfilled with the blessings of Mother Ganga, the giver of salvation, and Lord Surya. May new energy, new enthusiasm and new resolve awaken in life, this is my prayer.”
While congratulating Mauni Amavasya, Yogi wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to all the devotees and the people of the state on Mauni Amavasya, the great festival of faith that inspires charity, fasting and sacrifice. May everyone’s wishes be fulfilled with the blessings of Mother Ganga and Sun God, who gives salvation. May new energy, new enthusiasm and new zeal be infused in life, this is my wish.”

Those who are going to bathe at home should offer Ganga water to the bathing water and then bathe with it. After bathing, you should put water, sesame seeds, flowers, etc. in a copper vessel and offer water to the Sun God.
