Maharashtra Municipal Election Results Live: The election results of 29 municipal corporations of Maharashtra, including BMC will come today. Counting of votes will start from 10 am, and by noo,n it will be known who will become the boss of Mumbai.
Along with this, the results of 28 municipal corporations, including Pune-Nagpur and Thane, will come. According to the State Election Commission, counting of votes for 2,869 seats of the total 893 wards will start from 10 am. The most discussed results in these are of big cities like Mumbai (BMC), Pune, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare said voting ended in all municipal corporations at 5:30 p.m. Voting is estimated to be around 50%, though final figures will be released later.
Meanwhile, three post-voting Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) exit polls predict a majority for the BJP alliance. The BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena could win 130 to 150 seats, requiring 114 for a majority. The Congress alliance is projected to win 60 seats, with others likely to win 5 to 7 seats. Results will be announced on Friday.
This election is extremely interesting because the political alliances in the state have completely changed. Forgetting years of rivalry, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray are now contesting together. Meanwhile, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad are witnessing a real “Pawar vs. Pawar” battle, where Ajit Pawar’s faction is challenging Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP). Political analysts believe these results will set the tone for the upcoming assembly elections.
One of the most prominent municipal corporations in this electoral contest is the BMC of Mumbai. Other municipal corporations whose results are expected to be announced today include Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Navi Mumbai, Vasai-Virar, Kalyan-Dombivali, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Solapur, Amravati, Akola, Nashik, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, Ulhasnagar, Thane, Chandrapur, Parbhani, Mira-Bhayander, Nanded-Waghala, Panvel, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Latur, Malegaon, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar, Dhule, Jalna, and Ichalkaranji.
