Gorakhpur. CM Yogi Adityanath today offered the sacred Khichdi to Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath in the Brahma Muhurta at the Gorakhnath Temple, following the special tradition of the Nath sect, as per the rituals during the Punyakaal. After CM Yogi offered the Khichdi, the temple was opened for devotees and a stream of devotees started arriving. On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath prayed to Shiva, the incarnation of Mahayogi, for the welfare of the people and for a happy and prosperous life for all citizens. Addressing media personnel, Chief Minister Yogi said that Makar Sankranti is a very important festival. The Sun, the Father of the Universe, is the soul of this inanimate and animate world. In the eternal Hindu tradition, auspicious events begin today. He heartily welcomes all devotees.

Meaning of Makar Sankranti
CM Yogi explained that according to astrological tradition, the solar solstice is divided into 12 different parts. According to this, the transition of the Sun from one zodiac sign to another is called Sankranti, and when the Sun transits from Sagittarius to Capricorn, it is called Makar Sankranti. From Capricorn, the Sun will remain in Uttarayan for the next six months, i.e., until Gemini. During Uttarayan, the days are longer and the nights are shorter.
CM Yogi wrote on his Instagram that he extends his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti (Khichdi), a festival of cultural consciousness, social harmony, and worship of the Sun God. This grand festival, a symbol of public welfare, social harmony, and cultural excellence, brings happiness, peace, prosperity, and health to everyone; this is my prayer to Lord Bhaskar.
