Raja Saab advance booking: Prabhas is back in theatres this weekend with his horror comedy, The Raja Saab, marking the actor’s return to the family entertainer genre after years of starring in mass-action films.
By the morning of Friday, its release day, the film had sold over 5 lakh tickets for its opening day for the Telugu language version alone. The trouble is that the other four dubbed versions have sold a combined total of barely 70,000 tickets. The Raja Saab has been made on a reported budget of around ₹300 crore. According to trade estimates, this means the film needs to earn over ₹400 crore worldwide to be a hit.
Directed by Maruthi, the film has been the first big release of 2026. All of Prabhas’ films after the Baahubali series were mass actioners. Fans say The Raja Saab is a return of the ‘vintage Prabhas’.
Apart from Prabhas, The Raja Saab also stars Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab. The film had a worldwide release in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and English.
If reports are to be believed, Prabhas took a 33 per cent fee cut for The Raja Saab. He reportedly charged around ₹100 crore, which is lower than his usual ₹150 crore or more salary. As per reports, the actor decided to help free up funds from the movie’s budget, which could be used for better production. The report also suggests that Sanajy Dutt, who plays the main antagonist, took home ₹5-₹6 crore for his role in the horror comedy.
