New Delhi: India records 3,841 COVID-19 related deaths in a single day, raising the total number of fatalities to 3,15,263. The Union Health Ministry confirmed  2,11,275 new infections across the country in the past 24 hours, meaning that 2.73Cr people have contracted the disease so far. 

As per the global charts, India stands second after the US having crossed 20crore cumulative COVID-19 Vaccine coverage. The Health Ministry reported 1.38 million immunizations of age group 18-44.

Maharashtra recorded 24,752 new infections and 992 deaths in the past 24 hours.  UP recorded 193 more Covid-related fatalities, raising the death toll to 19,712, the cumulative count rose to 16,80,684 with 3,176 fresh cases reported in the state health bulletin. 

The National Capital however reported a decline in its positivity rate to 2.14 percent recording only 1,500 cases this week. Yet, the state now scuffles against the black fungus after recording 600 cases so far. 

On the vaccination front, US giant Pfizer is likely to supply over five crores vaccines to India.  As per PTI, a part of Johnson and Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine will be manufactured in Hyderabad based Biological E . The biopharmaceutical firm proposes to produce 30 crore doses exclusively for the Indians by December. 

Delhi’s first day of drive-through COVID-19 vaccination successfully inoculated 70 people on Wednesday.  Neighbouring state Haryana registered an 82-year-old man with multiple antibodies to become the first citizen to be treated with monoclonal antibodies cocktail used extensively in the US and Europe.
