The Vande Bharat sleeper train between Guwahati and Kolkata will provide the traveler with an affordable option to air travel, as the fare is significantly cheaper than flights, as announced by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will later this month open the service that commuters and travelers in the region have been waiting to use.
In an announcement at a press briefing on Thursday, Vaishnaw gave information about the fare structure, and he observed that the trains have been planned keeping in consideration the middle-class, which will be able to afford the trains. The 3-AC fare will be around 2,300, the 2-AC fare around 3,000 and the 1-AC fare will be around 3,600 as the minister witnesses. Meals will be included in all fares, and passengers will have a comfortable and convenient travelling experience.
According to Vaishnaw the service is supposed to enhance the accessibility of long distance travel giving people an alternative other than flying, which is fast, comfortably, and most importantly economically viable. He indicated that the train would start operations in the next 1520 days, and the it would start towards the end of January, subject to the Prime Minister confirmation. He also said that the precise date of the inauguration will be announced within the next two to three days.
The launch of the Vande Bharat sleeper train service is a big milestone to the railway systems in India, as it has increased the connection between India northeast and eastern metropolitan regions. It vows to offer quicker and more comfortable travel without being costly to its customers who would have been using more costly air travel.
The relocation is also a component of a larger initiative taken by Indian Railways to revamp the long-distance train services, encompassing high-speed trains with reduced energy consumption and better conveniences and passenger-oriented service.
