The younger brother of assassinated Bangladeshi student leader Sharif Osman Hadi has come up with grave charges against the interim government of the country under the leadership of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus who he said had orchestrated the killing in a bid to sabotage the forthcoming national elections.

Sharif Osman Hadi, one of the most vocal student activists and the organizer of Inqilab Moncho, was one of the most important figures that spearheaded the student uprising of 2024 in Bangladesh. He was shot on his way out of a mosque in Dhaka and eventually died of his wounds in a hospital in Singapore throwing the country into political tensions and unrest.

In a speech to a crowd on Tuesday, Osman Hadi was directly accusing elements in the interim government as a cause of the murder by his brother Omar Hadi. Speaking at the Shahidi Shopoth programme held by Inqilab Moncho in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in Dhaka, Omar alleged that one group of those in power had conspiracy of killing to derail the democratic process.

Omar Hadi accused the government by saying that it is you who killed Osman Hadi and now you are attempting to derail the election with this matter, said Bangladeshi media outlets. He alleged that they have not seen any tangible improvements in the investigation even after being requested on numerous occasions.

Poisoning the atmosphere of the marathon Omar Hadi, giving a vehement threat to the interim government led by Yunus, expressed the fear that just like the previous Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government would receive the same fate unless justice is served. Make sure the murdersers are quickly put on trial so as not to harm the election atmosphere. Avoiding justice, you, too, might have to be driven out of Bangladesh one day, he said.

One of the most outspoken personalities of the mass student movement that ultimately caused the resignation of Sheikh Hasina is Sharif Osman Hadi.
