Chhattisgarh is still subjected to extreme cold weather and great quantities of fog that have impacted the day to day activities in various parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also sounded an alert to the State warning about dense fog covering most of the state in the next 2 days and that the visibility may not improve even in the morning hours.

The weather department says there will be dense fog in the northern Chhattisgarh and the Surguja division, which may hamper the road and rail transportation. Mogs can be witnessed in some parts of the Surguja division, and also parts of the Bilaspur division there are likely to be misty. Although the temperatures are cold, a slow increase in temperature is predicted that will bring a slight reprieve out of the severe cold.

According to the IMD, in the next three days, minimum temperatures in the north of Chhattisgarh might rise modestly (between 2 and 3 degrees Celsius). Nonetheless, the regions of the state that lie in the middle and south are likely to experience no strong variation in minimum temperatures in the given timeframe. An increase in temperature by a slight margin is expected by the next three days.

The past 24 hrs weather data indicates that Rajnandgaon has recorded the maximum temperature in the state of 28 degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum temperature has been recorded at 4.6 degrees Celsius at Ambikapur, which is the extreme difference in weather conditions.

H.P. Chandra, the senior meteorologist stated that there might be some small change in the temperature within the next three days but there should be no significant change in the minimum temperatures within this time frame.

The weather department also warned that on December 22, there can be a dense fog in the isolated areas of the districts of Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Korea, Surajpur, Surguja, Jashpur, and Balrampur. In the form of moderated fog, the districts of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Korba, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Sakti, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, and Mungeli should be expected. More foggy weather can be expected in the north till December 23.
