SYRIA: America has once again launched a major military operation against the Islamic State in Syria. After the death of three American soldiers in a deadly attack in the Palmyra area, the Pentagon decided to give a strong response. The US Army has launched ‘Operation Hawkeye Strike’, the purpose of which is said to be to completely destroy the ISIS network. America has launched a major military operation against ISIS. 70 locations were targeted in Operation Hawkeye Strike.
Giving information on the social media platform X, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said that two American soldiers and one civilian lost their lives in an attack on an American military base in Syria on 13 December, while three soldiers were seriously injured. This military action has been launched to respond to this attack.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth made it clear that the US will never tolerate attacks on its citizens and soldiers, and that anyone who targets Americans anywhere in the world will be pursued back home and destroyed. Operation Hawkeye Strike showcased the military might of the US and its allies. F-15 Eagle fighter jets, A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft, AH-64 Apache helicopters, and HIMARS rocket systems were used in the strikes. Jordanian F-16 fighter jets also participated in the operation.
Recently, interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa visited Washington and met with the US leadership. This marked the first time since 1946 that a Syrian president has visited the White House, marking a new turning point in relations between the US and Syria following the ouster of Bashar al-Assad.
President Donald Trump also responded to the military action. He wrote on social media that the strikes were targeting ISIS strongholds. Trump warned that any terrorist organization that attempts to attack or threaten the United States will face a more dangerous response than ever before. According to US officials, approximately 70 ISIS-linked targets in central Syria were struck as part of this operation. These included terrorist hideouts, weapons storage facilities, and training bases.
