PM Modi Speech In Ethiopian Parliament: PM Narendra Modi addressed the Parliament of Ethiopia, as a last part of his visit to the country. While addressing the Parliament of Ethiopia, he called it a matter of pride for him and the country. PM Modi said that it is an honour for me to come to the temple of democracy. Modi said that “I am feeling very good after coming to Ethiopia. This is the land of lions. I am feeling at home here because my home state Gujarat, is also the land of lions”. This is the 18th Parliament in the world where PM Modi has given a speech.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament in Addis Ababa. He said, “It is a great honor and privilege for me to stand before you today.” The Prime Minister also noted that he was awarded Ethiopia’s highest honor, the “Great Honor Nishan of Ethiopia,” yesterday, which he accepts with humility and folded hands on behalf of the people of India.
Earlier on Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi was given Ethiopia’s highest honour. In a special ceremony held at the International Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, PM Abiy Ahmed Ali conferred Ethiopia’s highest honour, ‘The Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia’, on Prime Minister Modi. With this, PM Modi has become the first global leader to receive ‘The Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia’. This highest honour of Ethiopia is the 28th foreign state award given to PM Modi.
Indian Vande Mataram and Ethiopia’s national anthem are the same.
PM Modi said that India’s national song, Vande Mataram, and Ethiopia’s national anthem both address our land as mother. They teach us to be proud of our heritage, culture, and beauty, and inspire us to protect our motherland. The Prime Minister said that he comes with deep respect for the Ethiopian Parliament, its people, and the country’s democratic journey, and conveys a message of friendship, harmony, and brotherhood on behalf of India’s 1.4 billion people.
PM Modi said that through this platform he is also communicating with farmers working in the fields, entrepreneurs creating new ideas, women leading communities, and the youth of Ethiopia who are shaping the country’s future.
