Congress Leader Shivraj Patil Passes Away: Senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil has passed away. The senior Congress leader breathed his last at the age of 90. Former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil Chakurkar passed away at around 6:30 am in Latur, Maharashtra. He was undergoing treatment at home due to a prolonged illness. His passing has left an atmosphere of mourning throughout Maharashtra and national politics.
Shivraj Patil was elected to the Lok Sabha from Latur seven times. He also served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. He held several Union Ministerial positions. During his political career, he held many prestigious positions for the country.
Shivraj Patil was an influential Congress leader from Chakur in Latur and won the Latur Lok Sabha constituency seven times. Despite losing the Lok Sabha seat in 2004, he accepted the post of Home Minister from the Rajya Sabha and central responsibilities. The Congress party and all its workers mourn his passing and offer their condolences to his family.
He graduated in science from Osmania University and studied law at the University of Mumbai. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Latur in 1980. He held important portfolios in the governments of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. He served as Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1991 to 1996. He led India at numerous parliamentary conferences, both domestically and abroad.
