The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has intensified its efforts to control the rising pollution levels in Delhi-NCR. DMRC is conducting a special anti-pollution drive at various construction sites and their connecting routes across the capital. Dust control, cleaning of construction sites, and ensuring adherence to environmental standards have been prioritized under this campaign. This initiative is not only a significant step towards reducing pollution generated during construction activities, but will also contribute to keeping the city’s roads clean and safe.
According to DMRC’s Principal Executive Director, Anuj Dayal, the corporation is conducting a special anti-pollution drive at several construction sites across the capital. This campaign focuses on dust control, regular cleaning of roadside garbage, and maintaining cleanliness in construction areas. He added that additional measures are also being taken to reduce dust generated during construction activities, minimizing the impact of pollution on surrounding areas.
Special cleaning and repair drive launched here
As part of the DMRC’s anti-pollution campaign, a special drive was conducted from Azadpur to Ashok Vihar on Friday (December 5). Several measures were implemented, including repairing damaged footpaths, improving the median, and beautifying the road. DMRC engineers inspected the entire area. The inspection found that all construction materials were properly covered and the wheel-wash system for vehicles leaving the construction sites was functioning properly.
In light of the rising pollution levels in the national capital, the DMRC is continuously conducting special anti-pollution drives in several areas. This drive is in addition to the regular measures the agency is already implementing, such as dust control, covering construction materials, and ensuring road cleanliness.
19 km of roads under the jurisdiction of DMRC
Currently, approximately 19 kilometers of city roads are temporarily under the DMRC’s jurisdiction. These roads were assigned to the agency due to Metro construction work. DMRC has already completed repairs to these roads to prevent increased pollution from Metro construction.
