Raipur. Under the central government’s ambitious PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, a village in Raigarh district will be developed as a fully solar-powered solar model village. To this end, the district-level selection committee has formally initiated the selection process.
At a meeting chaired by the Collector, it was decided that only villages in the district with a population of more than 5,000 would be included in the competition. Since there are a limited number of villages in this category in the district, the administration decided to select the 10 villages with the highest populations and include them in the six-month competitive process.
It is noteworthy that on the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, the districts have been directed to work continuously to accelerate the expansion of renewable energy in the state, so that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s target of solar energy in every house can be realized on the ground.
According to the guidelines issued by the Central Government in Raigarh district, the 10 Gram Panchayats selected for the competition include village Kudumkela of Gharghora development block, village Tamnar of Tamnar development block, village Khairpur of Raigarh development block, village Vijaynagar of Dharamjaigarh development block, village Taraimal of Tamnar development block, village Gahnajharia of Lalungha development block, village Garhmariya of Pusour development block, village Chhal of Dharamjaigarh development block, village Sisringa of Pusour development block, and village Kodatarai of Pusour development block. One of these villages will become the district’s first solar model village.
