Hoshiarpur: The Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) held a rail blockade protest in Punjab today. According to the KMM organization, the protest took place at 26 locations in 19 districts of Punjab. This rail blockade lasted for two hours, from 1 pm to 3 pm. During this time, farmers staged a sit-in on the railway tracks.

KMM said that during the protest, train movement will be stopped at railway stations and railway crossings in major districts, including Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Sangrur, Fazilka, Moga, Bathinda, Muktsar, Malerkotla, Mansa, Ludhiana, Faridkot, and Ropar.

The organization’s main demands include repealing the draft Electricity Amendment Bill 2025, eliminating prepaid electricity meters, restoring the old metering system, and opposing the state government’s decision to sell public assets. Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leaders say these decisions are anti-people, placing additional burdens on farmers, farm laborers, and ordinary consumers.

The Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) has warned that if the government continues to ignore their demands, the agitation will escalate and the government will be held fully responsible. This protest will be a symbolic two-hour demonstration, but it is likely to have a significant impact on rail traffic in the state.
