Raipur. The cancellation of IndiGo flights continues today at the Raipur airport. Six flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Indore have been canceled today, increasing passenger inconvenience. On Friday, IndiGo canceled five flights to Delhi, three to Mumbai, and 20 flights to Goa, Indore, and Kolkata, due to a shortage of crew and pilots.

The flight cancellations forced more than 7,000 passengers to cancel their trips. Dozens of passengers were traveling to Delhi and Mumbai to catch flights abroad. The cancellations created tension at the airport throughout the morning. People argued with IndiGo staff, sometimes leading to scuffles at the counter.

While IndiGo claims it to be an operational crisis, cancellations since the past four days have hit major hubs including Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Earlier on Friday, over 1000 flights were cancelled in total in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and other airports.

The airline, India’s largest, has attributed the crisis to a “multitude of unforeseen operational challenges”, also citing minor tech glitches, winter schedule changes and the weather.

More than 100 passengers traveling from Raipur to Hyderabad and Chennai have been stranded at the airport for 24 hours, waiting for their flights. None of them received any email or SMS notifications. Despite their stay at the airport, they were not provided with rooms or food. They had to buy tea, water, and snacks.

Airports in Madhya Pradesh are also facing a tough time as a total of more than 65 Indigo flights have been cancelled from the state’s three major cities: Indore, Bhopal, and Jabalpur. Indore has suffered the most, with 44 flights cancelled. Eighteen flights were cancelled from Bhopal and five from Jabalpur.

A total of 18 flights from Bhopal and 5 out of 6 flights from Jabalpur were cancelled. Thousands of passengers have been waiting at the airport for over 24 hours. Many have already suffered flight cancellations for the second or third time in a row. Passengers’ anger can be clearly seen on social media. There has been no official statement from IndiGo yet regarding when this problem will be resolved. Currently, passengers are being advised to check their flight status and make alternative arrangements.
