Police statements made on Thursday indicated that a techie in Bengaluru had committed suicide after being constantly harassed and pressurized money-wise by two neighbours. The accident took place in a house that was being built in Nallurhalli.
According to a complaint that was made by the mother of the deceased, Lakshmi Govindaraju, her son, Murali had been building a house on a piece of land he bought in 2018. She accused their neighbours, Usha Nambiar and Shashi Nambiar of repeatedly approaching Murali and asking him to pay 20 lakh rupees with them and that this was related to a dispute over property. The complaint also added that the neighbours with some BBMP staff visited the construction site several times and mentally harassed Murali when he declined to give into their requests.
Murali walked out of the home in the morning on December 3 and never came back. A carpenter, Ganesh, who had gone to work at the under-construction building found the body of the man on the second floor and reported it to the family. After the complainant, the case was registered by the police and an investigation is being conducted. The mother of Murali has requested the government to deal with the two suspects harshly.
In one more sad and equally painful event, another Bengaluru tech professional who was missing more than two weeks was found dead in an adjacent state of Andhra Pradesh. The remains of 34-year-old software engineer Shrinath K who had vanished in Attibele on October 27, were found buried in a deserted house in the area of Kuppam in the Chittoor district. On November 16 his remains were exhumed.
Those who investigated the case found out that Shrinath was allegedly killed by his cousin, 39-year-old Prabhakar, who is a resident of Kuppam and has a criminal background. Shinath had a wife, Neha MP, and a child whom they lived with at Neraluru.
