Bhavnagar: A massive fire has broken out in Bhavnagar’s pathology lab complex. This complex is filled with several private hospitals, pathology labs, shops, and offices. As soon as the fire broke out, panic gripped the complex. Patients were evacuated by breaking the glass windows. Fifty firefighters are still trying to extinguish the blaze.
According to initial reports, the fire broke out in a pathology lab located in the complex. It then quickly spread to other areas. Children and other patients admitted to the hospital had to be rescued by breaking glass. Sources say 15 to 20 children were also safely evacuated. All patients were immediately shifted to Sir T Medical College Hospital.
At present, the fire has been brought under control, and it is a matter of relief that there were no casualties. Five fire tenders and 50 personnel arrived at the scene immediately after receiving the information and began the rescue operation. The fire had spread so much that it took an hour to extinguish it.
Rescue Efforts
Local residents also assisted in the rescue efforts. They helped the fire department evacuate patients, children, and the elderly trapped in the smoke. As soon as the fire broke out, panic gripped the area, and people began running around. Medical staff immediately began shifting patients to other hospitals. The fire brigade stated that the fire was largely under control. The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Patients trapped inside the hospital are being evacuated. People have been urged to stay away from the building.
It is reported that around 20 children were admitted to the hospital on the first floor of the building. Seeing the fire, the fire department was immediately informed. Local residents immediately placed a ladder on the window and began pulling the children out one by one, wrapping them in sheets. Their alertness and presence of mind saved the children’s lives.
