Varanasi: A violent clash broke out on the Banaras Hindu University campus, resulting in stone-throwing and physical violence following an altercation between students and security personnel. The incident began when a student was struck by a vehicle and injured. The student then approached the Proctorial Board with a complaint, where he became involved in an altercation with security guards.

It is reported that the students became furious after this incident. Late that night, heavy stone-throwing and fighting broke out between security personnel and students. Numerous flower pots, chairs, and vehicles were damaged, and security staff and students also exchanged blows with each other. Fifty students, 40 security personnel, and more than 10 police officers were injured in the chaos. Some students were seriously injured and were admitted to a trauma center.

Following the incident, police were deployed to the campus. The administration sent reinforcements to calm the situation. They said that strict action would be taken against those responsible.
