The recently released romantic drama, Tere Ishk Mein, by Dhanush and Kriti Sanon has performed well at the box office collecting more than 50 crores within three days in the local market. The movie continued to uphold good traction into the first weekend and continued to record double-digit grosses and it turned out to be one of the success stories of the season.
The movie was released on November 28 and collected an impressive ₹16 crore on the opening day. According to initial trade estimates, the Hindi version had led with 15.25 crore, and the Tamil version had added on 75 lakh more, which is a sign of pan-India appeal by Dhanush.
Day 2 (Saturday) saw the film record good growth with 17 crore being collected as positive word of mouth and high occupancy rate led to rise of the figures. The trend moved up to Sunday, and the film gained an impressive 18.75 crore, the largest revenue in one day ever. This saw Tere Ishk Mein end its opening weekend with a total of 51.75 crore which put it in a position to register a strong first week.
It is the third time that actor Dhanush and director Aanand L. Rai worked together, after the critical success Raanjhanaa (2013) and Atrangi Re (2021). Their artistic collaboration has always resulted in emotionally charged stories, and Tere Ishk Mein is no exception to this pattern with a plot that comes out to examine the negative aspects of obsessive and toxic love.
A lot of buzz had been created online before the release, through the trailer, with people eager to see how Dhanush would portray such a troubled lover which is a theme that has gained popularity in Hindi cinema over the last few years. The role of Kriti Sanon has also been well received, which has brought in the star power and also the depth in the film in terms of emotion.
As its weekend earnings were high and the audience was generally receptive to the new product, trade analysts assume that Tere Ishk Mein can run a successful week and become one of the highlights of the year.
