On Saturday, the Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, married his long-time partner, Jodie Haydon, marking an Australian historical milestone because it is the first time an Australian leader is being married during his tenure of office. It was a small ceremony conducted in the garden of the official residence of the Prime Minister in Canberra known as The Lodge, and close relatives and friends were present.

Albanese, 62 was married to Haydon, 46, with self-written vows. The prime minister made a very emotional speech, telling him that they are so pleased to have their love and their dedication to their future lives together before their family and their very closest circle of friends. He also used the social media to announce the news with a straightforward caption of Married and video of the couple drinking with confetti showering around them. The bride was in a traditional white dress, and Albanese in a regular suit with bow tie.

The wedding is over one year after Albanese proposed on valentine day in 2024, which he termed as the best part when he found someone he would want to spend the rest of his life with. The two have a couple of years together, and Haydon often takes Albanese through to various functions, campaign tracks, and other formal events. She was also particularly visible during his election victory in 2022 and at other notable political events in 2024 in support of the Labor government.

The newlyweds were then taken to walk down the aisle with a well-known hit of Stevie Wonder, Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours) to express their happy life. Their wedding dance was to be the classical, classic, classic of Frank Sinatra, the Way You Look Tonight.

The prime minister office revealed that the couple will have a short honeymoon in Australia between Monday and Friday of the week.
