The town of Udupi is all set to receive the Prime Minister today in high gear since the coastal temple town is preparing straight into the event with the security and arrangements being on a massive scale than ever seen before. The entire area to be covered as the roadshow of the PM has been covered in bunting and saffron flags, and multi-layered barricades have been installed to manage the huge number of spectators that will be present during the 20-minute procession.

The police in senior positions in the district describe the security arrangement as being among the most elaborate that the town has ever experienced. More than 3,000 personnel were deployed with the support of other forces of different units. There will be 10 superintendents of police, 27 deputy superintendents, 49 inspectors, 127 sub-inspector officers, 232 assistant sub-inspectors, 1,608 constables, and 39 women personnel who will be on duty. Karnataka State Reserve Police will also be deployed in Udupi in six platoons and six Quick Response Teams who will be positioned in strategic places.

The whole pathway adjacent to the helipad and the Sri Krishna Math has been fully scrutinized by the bomb detecting teams. There are dog squads and increased surveillance around such crucial locations as Adi Udupi, Bannanje bus stand, and parking areas around the Math. The Sri Krishna Math is a Madhavacharya creation established over 800 years ago and is one of the key spiritual centers, and is set to welcome the Prime Minister in traditional splendor.

Within the Math complex, there are large scale preparations taking place. Paryaya Puttige Math seer Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji reported that the Prime Minister will be participating in the Laksha Kantha Geetha Parayana as one lakh devotees will be singing Bhagavad Gita together. He will also open the new Suvarna Teertha Mantapa that was built.

According to the plan, the Prime Minister will come at approximately noon. He will start with paying floral homage to saint-poet Kanakadasa and reveal the golden cover to the ancient Kanakana Kindi.
