A 38-year-old woman, the daughter-in-law of Kamla Pasand Pan Masala, allegedly committed suicide at her Vasant Vihar (Southwest Delhi) home on Tuesday. The deceased, Deepti Chaurasia (40), is the daughter-in-law of Kamla Pasand Pan Masala owner Kamal Kishore.
Preliminary information suggests that Deepti allegedly took her own life. Police have also found Deepti’s last note, which is being investigated. Deepti Chaurasia had been in conflict with her husband, Harpreet Chaurasia. They married in 2010 and have a 14-year-old son. Police also recovered a suicide note at the scene, in which Deepti has not made any allegations against anyone. Currently, police are investigating the case and recording statements from the family.
According to sources, Deepti Chaurasia’s suicide note contained emotional themes about love and trust. She wrote that if there is no love and trust in a relationship, then what is the point of staying in it. Initial investigations suggest the case is a suicide. Police are also investigating whether Deepti was suffering from any mental stress or other problems.
Deepti’s body was first discovered by her husband, Harpreet Chaurasia. Harpreet immediately rushed her to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Police also recovered a diary from the scene, in which Deepti had written about her ongoing disputes with her husband. In the diary, Deepti wrote that she often had fights with her husband. She also wrote, “If there is no love and trust in a relationship, then what is the point of staying in it?”
According to police, Deepti and her husband had been living in separate homes for some time. Police are investigating the matter further. Deepti married Harpreet Chaurasia in 2010. They have two children. Harpreet is reported to have been married twice. His second wife is a South Indian film actress. Deepti’s family has accused him of inciting her to suicide.
