Washington DC: Chaos struck the heart of Washington, DC when several people were shot just blocks from the White House. The two members of the West Virginia National Guard who had been deployed to the capital as part of President Donald Trump’s ongoing anti-crime initiative were killed.
The firing near the White House has created panic in the entire America. The police took action and arrested the accused. The accused has been identified as Afghan refugee Rahmanullah Lakanwal. The FBI has started investigating the case. The FBI will investigate this case as a terrorist attack.
President Donald Trump also reacted to the shooting near the White House. Condemning the incident, he wrote on social media that there would be a heavy price to pay for this attack.
Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser condemned the incident, calling it a targeted attack. FBI Director Kash Patel and Mayor Muriel Bowser said the Guard members were hospitalized in critical condition. The incident occurred at 2:30 p.m. local time.
Metropolitan Police Assistant Chief Jeff Carroll said the National Guard soldiers were on patrol when the attacker came around a corner and ambushed them. Following the shooting, other Guard members surrounded the suspect and arrested him. He is currently being questioned. The suspect in the National Guard shooting in Washington, DC, has been identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan citizen who came to the US in 2021.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump condemned the incident and said that there will be a heavy price to pay for this attack. In a post on social media, Trump said that the animal responsible will pay a heavy price. He praised the National Guard, saying, “God bless our great National Guard and our entire military and law enforcement agencies. These are truly great people. As President of the United States, I, and everyone associated with the Office of the President, stand with you.”
