Controversial comedian Kunal Kamra has also caused an uproar with a social media post in which he was caught wearing a T-shirt that apparently made fun of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) group. On Monday, the post was posted on Instagram with an image of a dog and a hint to the RSS, the political mentor of the BJP, which received a strong response among political leaders.
BJP senior leader and Maharashtra minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule threatened to take up police action against those who post objectionable content online. He said that the police would crack down on anybody who publishes such objectionable messages, which only highlights the gravity with which the party is taking the recent social media activity of Kamra.
To further increase the pressure, the NDA ally BJP Shiv Sena too demanded that Kamra be dealt with strictly. The cabinet minister and the president of Shiv Sena party in Miharashtra, Sanjay Shirsat, wanted the BJP to take a firm action against it based on the previous comments of Kamra on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde of Maharashtra. This time he has dared to directly attack the RSS, whereas previously he had done the same to Prime Minister Modi and Eknath Shinde. The BJP must react to that, Shirsat said, noting the political delicacy of the post Kamra wrote.
Shirsat also stated that Kunal Kamra had gathered the heart to publish an objectionable post against the RSS but that Shiv Sena had responded violently to his previous satirical acts. In January this year, Kamra did a parody of the catchy Bollywood song, Bholi Si Surat, in Dil To Pagal Hai and during the show at Mumbai, Ind Habitat Studio, he was alleged to have attacked Shinde. This caused an outcry among Shiv Sena, such as vandalism of the comedy theater by the youth wing of the party, Yuva Sena and FIRs filed against Kamra.
