Tensions escalate between India and China after the detention of a woman from Arunachal Pradesh at Shanghai International Airport. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, while singing his old tune on Arunachal Pradesh, has called it a part of India. After this, India also reacted to give a befitting reply to China. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. The reality will not change by telling lies.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning Statement
“We learnt that China’s border inspection authorities have gone through the whole process according to the laws and regulations and fully protected the lawful rights and interests of the person concerned. Zangnan is China’s territory. China never acknowledged the so-called Arunachal Pradesh illegally set up by India,” Mao said.
India’s Reply
India has expressed strong displeasure over the detention of an Indian citizen at Shanghai airport. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Pema Wangjom, a resident of Arunachal Pradesh, was traveling from London to Japan on a valid Indian passport. She had only a three-hour transit time in Shanghai, but Chinese authorities detained her, citing her passport as invalid.
Hitting back at China, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: “Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India, and this is a self-evident fact. No amount of denial by the Chinese side is going to change this indisputable reality.” The foreign minister issued India’s response statement on X.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu, too, expressed “deep shock” over the incident and said that the “racial mockery” the woman was subjected to was “appalling”.
