Nearly 7,000 guests have been invited as PM Narendra Modi will hoist the saffron flag atop the 191-foot-high ‘shikhar’ of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir today. Other attendees include UP CM Yogi Adityanath, UP governor Anandiben Patel, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. This right-angled triangular saffron flag will bear the symbol of the Sun – representing eternal energy, divine radiance, virtue, and enlightenment and all the qualities associated with Lord Ram.

The programme is scheduled to take place on a day coinciding with the Muhurat of Ram and Sita’s Vivah Panchami, the Prime Minister’s office has said.

“The date also marks the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, who meditated in Ayodhya for 48 uninterrupted hours in the 17th Century,” said a statement from PM Modi’s office.

The flag will be hoisted on the temple spire during the auspicious period between 11.58 am and 1 pm, after which an address is expected. The prime minister will depart for the airport at 1.30 pm.

According to the temple trust, Modi will first have darshan at the Sapt Rishi Mandir inside the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, followed by visits to the Sheshavatar Mandir, Annapurna Mandir, Ramlalla, and Ram Darbar.

Additionally, Bhandara (community meal) has been arranged in Ayodhya today for the police personnel and security forces deployed for security management, as well as for the devotees. Notably, a total of six thousand nine hundred and seventy security personnel, including commandos from the ATS, NSG snipers, cyber experts and technical teams, have been deployed across the city ahead of the event that will be attended by PM Modi.
