Raigarh: Under the transparent and fair paddy procurement policy at the support price, a total of 3,266 quintals of illegal paddy has been seized in 30 cases in Raigarh in the last 15 days, the value of which is estimated to be more than Rs 1 crore at the rate of Rs 3100 per quintal. The District Collector has issued guidance which recommends that strict 24/7 surveillance be maintained at all interstate and internal checkpoints along the district’s borders. Officers and employees have been deployed on shifts, while special monitoring teams are active at the subdivision level. Besides, action is being taken against anyone involved in illegal paddy storage and transportation under the Mandi Act.
The Collector has appealed to citizens and farmers to immediately report any information about illegal paddy transportation or storage to the nearest police station, tehsil office, or checkpoint. Cooperating with the crackdown will strengthen the transparency of the procurement system.
Paddy procurement work is being carried out smoothly through procurement centres.
105 procurement centers have been established in the district to purchase paddy at the support price. As per government instructions, all procurement centers have been provided with basic amenities as per the checklist. Of the 105 procurement centers, 15 have been designated as sensitive and 4 as highly sensitive. To prevent the movement of illegal paddy, 24 checkpoints have been established, including Bhuiyapali, Belaria, Lara, Rengalpali, Ektal, Jamuna, Tolma, Hadipani, Lamdand, Hamirpur, Main Road Hati, Golabuda, Fatepur, Kesharchunwa, Tangarghat, Bijna, Barkachar, Urdana Barrier, Boirdadar Barrier, Palgada, Bhalunara, Bakaruma Barrier, Aidu Barrier, and Rilo Barrier. Four teams have been deployed in three shifts for 24-hour surveillance at these check posts.
