On Friday, US President Donald Trump said that, the United States has found a way forward to resolve the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine, in which case the plan will only proceed once Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is convinced to accept it. In an interview with reporters at the Oval Office, Trump stated that they believe they have a way to reach peace; he will have to give it a green light. I believe they are making fair headway but I do not want to guess.
The previous day, President Zelensky spoke to the general audience outside his office in Kyiv, telling the people that Ukraine is going through one of the most challenging periods in the history. He claimed that the US-supported proposal should be considered with great caution by the country since it might have a profound impact on the future of Ukraine. Emphasising solidarity and national determination, Zelensky promised his people never to compromise the fundamental values of the Ukrainian people.

People of Ukraine might have to make a very tough decision very soon, either to lose the dignity, or to lose one of the biggest partners, Zelensky told the people. Instead, he said that he would go to the end of the world to make sure that any proposal does not undermine the dignity and freedom of the Ukrainians and that two important principles should not be disregarded.
Reportedly, the new peace plan the Trump administration is considering is likely to have Ukraine ceding some of its territory in the eastern region of Donbas, and the administration would impose limitations on its military strength (quoted in a Western official involved in the inside deliberations). In its turn, Kyiv may get the US-supported security assurances that would ensure that the nation is not attacked in the future.
Since the two countries examine the political and strategic implications, the suggestion is a point of departure that may either lead to the cessation of the long-running conflict or lead to further discussion.
