Easterly winds have helped alleviate the cold wave in the entire state by providing minimal relief to the cold winter winds. Currently, there is still a mild coldness at night and warmer temperatures at daytime have begun. The lowest temperature of about 6 C that had reduced previously has now gone up again to almost 11 C. The cold is experienced in the urban areas especially in the early morning hours, whilst the outskirts still experience the stronger aspect of the chilly weather.
According to meteorologists, the impact of easterly winds could now be seen clearly, which made the cold a bit lesser throughout the region. The weather trend is projected to last two or three days. Then, when again the northern winds blow, the temperatures will decrease, and this will mean that colder weather will be coming.
In most of the districts, winter has been restored to the usual level. Ambikapur had a minimum temperature of 10.5 o C in the past 24 hours; this is a great increase in comparison to 4 days ago when the temperature plummeted as low as 6 o C. Raipur, too, which had been long struggling with a minimum of about 13 o C with not a small share of cold, is now feeling it only early in the morning.
The sky will be clear today, regarding the capital Raipur. Temperatures are going to be around 16 o C to 30 o C throughout the day, with the effect that it will feel cool in the mornings and hot in the afternoons. Such a change is a common occurrence when there is a transitional weather and the direction and intensity of the winds alter.
The residents have been encouraged to be ready to deal with varying temperatures and those that are weather sensitive. Although the situation is a temporary relief, against harsh cold, the threat of another drop in temperature should not be excluded since the north winds are likely to resume in the near future.
