Assam Police has dealt an excellent blow to the drug network in the region with three consecutive operations in Karbi Anglong that led to the involvement of huge amounts of narcotics. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma cheered the police move calling them a Bollywood beating to the drug mafia.

Publicizing information on social media late on Thursday, the Chief Minister disclosed the impressive proportions of confiscated drugs: 255.641 kg of ganja, priced at almost 1.2 crore, 1.985 kg of morphine, priced at almost 1.9 crore, and 9.44kg of opium, priced at about 47.5 lakh. And one of them was apprehended on the operations. In his X post Sarma, stated, Try. Fail. Repeat. The drug mafia received a Bollywood style beating in 3 consecutive operations, which once again justified the police force by calling it the Avengers in real life in Assam.

The Chief Minister has pointed out that such operations are indicative of the strong determination of the state government according to the currently running Assam Against Drugs movement to destroy the narcotics networks by eliminating both channels of supply and corruption of illegal cultivation.

Elsewhere, during the same narcotics crackdown, the Assam Rifles went on a raid with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Manipur Police in the Songlung village, of the Kangpokpi district of Manipur. The group based their action on certain intelligence indicating the illegal cultivation of poppies and launched a pre-dawn raid on Thursday.

The security forces undertook area domination and thorough search operations in order to locate groups of illegal cultivation. He/she succeeded in finding and smuggling out almost 10 acres of illegal poppy farms as well as leveling three improvised huts used to store and process.

The officials estimated that the fields of poppies destroyed had the potential of generating approximately 70 kg of opium which was worth a number of crores in the black market.
