First Gen Z Post Office: The Indian Postal Department has launched the country’s first Gen Z-themed revamped post office at IIT Delhi as part of its modernization mission. The inauguration ceremony of the Gen Z Post Office at IIT Delhi was attended by the institute’s Director, Dean, faculty, and student body. The Ministry of Communications stated that this initiative has been launched specifically targeting the youth, to make the country’s post offices more attractive, useful, and modern. The Ministry also stated that such facilities will soon be made available at other universities and educational institutions in the country.

According to the Ministry of Communications, the aim is to modernize post offices to suit youth and students. This new post office has been designed keeping Gen Z in mind and offers modern facilities like Wi-Fi facility, parcel booking through QR code and digital transactions. Apart from this, this post office emphasizes on prompt services and maximum use of technology.

The post office on the IIT Delhi campus has been completely redesigned. It was designed in collaboration with students and features modern interiors, a Wi-Fi zone, graffiti, and artwork created by the Fine Arts Society of IIT Delhi. This Gen Z post office also offers features like QR code parcel booking, student-friendly Speed ​​Post discounts, and smart service touchpoints, making it more attractive to youth and students.

The Indian Postal Department has launched an initiative to modernize post offices on university campuses across the country to suit Gen Z. Under this initiative, the first Gen Z post office has been opened at IIT Delhi. According to the Postal Department, under this initiative, post offices on 46 educational campuses across the country will be converted to Gen Z model by December 15, 2025. Its aim is to make postal services more accessible and technology-advanced for the youth. Also, this Gen Z post office will provide services to more than 10,000 students and staff members at the IIT Delhi campus.

Significant participation of students in Gen Z Post Office

The uniqueness of the Gen Z Post Office project is its direct student involvement. IIT Delhi students have been engaged as brand ambassadors, design producers, and social media contributors. Furthermore, for the first time at IIT Delhi, a student franchise model has been introduced, allowing students to gain firsthand experience in running a post office.
