The government of Delhi will increase its primary health care net by great folds, with the government officials stating that 70 more Arogya Ayushman Mandirs will be opened within the city this month. With the new centres in operation, the total number of operational clinics in the national capital will surpass 200 making it a milestone in the community health facilities in Delhi.
Currently, Ayushman Mandirs in different districts are approximately 168 in Delhi. The next series of clinics will be located in 10 of the 11 districts, and it will further enhance the initiative by the government to make sure that the necessary medical care is accessible locally. According to the authorities, such facilities are slowly gaining prominence as the foundation of community healthcare by providing residents with easy access to diagnostics, primary treatment, and prevention.
Governments also declared their policy change in terms of infrastructure. The government is no longer going to run these clinics on leased grounds since there are appropriate government owned places. The move will help in lowering the cost of operations besides offering more permanent and stable healthcare centres to citizens.
Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh reaffirmed government resolve to increase health services in a fast rate. These 70 new Aarogya Ayushman Mandirs will bring quality primary healthcare to the neighbourhoods of people. We have an easy mission, just leave no citizen behind, no matter the distance, the expense, or even non-accessibility, he said.
He also emphasized that the roll out in this month is not exhaustive. There are several more clinics which are already under pipeline and tenders are being finalized and the construction work is underway in a number of locations. Singh further states that the government targets to make the overall number to even greater amounts by the year-end.
With the status of decentralised healthcare model in Delhi, it is anticipated that the growth of Arogya Ayushman Mandirs will make medical services more accessible.
