Ambikapur: President Murmu will visit Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh today to participate in the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations. This will be the second time when India’s President will visit the Surguja division. About seven decades ago, the country’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, came to Pandonagar (Surajpur) village in undivided Surguja.

The state-level concluding ceremony of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas will be held today at the PG College Ground in Ambikapur city of Chhattisgarh. As part of the event, a seminar was organised highlighting the glorious history of tribal communities and the valour of their icons.

The President will stay at Ambikapur for about an hour. She will land at the helipad at Gandhi Stadium in the city from Jharsuguda in Odisha at 11:20 am in an Army helicopter. From the helipad, they will cover a distance of 1.3 km by road to reach the PG College ground, where the program is held. Union Minister Jual Oraon, Governor Rameen Deka, and Chief Minister Vishnu Desai will be present at the event.

During the programme, the President will launch the Chief Minister’s Tribal Gram Akhara Development Scheme. Also, tribal chiefs, heroes of tribal rebellions and family members of freedom fighters will be felicitated. After attending the event, the President will leave Ambikapur for Veer Surendra Sai Airport at 12:40 pm.

President Droupadi Murmu’s visit aims to honour the family members of tribal uprising heroes and freedom fighters in Ambikapur. The programme will be presided over by the Governor of Chhattisgarh, Ramen Deka. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and many other public representatives will also be present on the occasion.
