On Tuesday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in order to investigate the case of the Red Fort car blast, made wide raids across the 25 cribs in the cities of Delhi and its surroundings with the Okhla office of Al Falah University included in the list of raids. Reports indicated that the searches started at an early time of the day at 5 am among university trustees, persons associated with them, and other entities suspected of having links to the terror module that carried out the November 10 assault. It is then an ongoing operation and further information is anticipated.
The arrest of various doctors who were alleged to be affiliated with Al Falah University has cast the institution into a lot of scrutiny. Dr. Umar Un Nabi, one of them, who was the suicide bomber in the explosion outside Red Fort, has connections to the university. The blast resulted in the deaths of 15 people and injuries to others, which casts serious doubts upon the network used to perpetrate the attack.
Similarly, the Delhi Police Crime Branch will also question the founder of the university, Jawad, with regard to two FIRs against the university. It has been formally brought to his notice. Cases that are involved in these are cheating and forgery. According to one FIR, the university had lied on its official site that it had a UGC 12B certificate as one such condition to attract students. The second one claims that the institution still received students even though its NAAC accreditation ran out in 2018.
On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had made a significant breakthrough by arresting a Srinagar resident called Jasir Bilal Wani or Danish. NIA notes that Jasir had given technical assistance to the terror group, modifying the drones and trying to make rockets that can be used to attack targets.
Steps that were reported to the investigators include the terror module working under Dr. Umar having strong hierarchy, a coded communication, and coordinated transfer of weapons, which shows that it had a highly structured network that organized the bombing of the Red Fort.
